Play the Economy First: A Mindset Shift for Strategy Games
When I started taking mobile strategy seriously, my biggest jump in skill came from thinking about resources before units. The instinct is to build the coolest, strongest thing you can afford. The better move is often to build the thing that pays for two cooler things next round.
In most tower defence and strategy games there's an early window where investing in income or cheap efficient units compounds. A few rounds of restraint can leave you fielding twice the force of someone who spent everything up front.
The trick is knowing when to stop saving. Once the pressure mounts, hoarding resources loses games just as badly as overspending. I aim to keep a small cushion, never a hoard.
Try one run where your only goal is to end each wave with a healthy economy, even if it means a nervier defence. You'll be shocked how much easier the back half of a level becomes.
